Wall-eyed Girl with Floating Eye
ink sketch

Scanned in straight from the sketch pad—I wasn't kidding about these being sketchbook drawings! I thought I'd show a looser, more goofy sketch, to give an idea of how "informal" I can be with these drawings. I used an inexpensive fine-tipped felt pen and just started with the eye, and then proceeded to fill in the rest of the face in around it. This is tricky, because there's no going back—no white-out, no erasing, no preliminary drawing done beforehand to make sure all the proportions are okay. There's only once chance to get it right.

Well, the drawing was okay (just okay) with a slight wall-eyed look to the face. I didn't take the sketch too seriously, so I started to doodle an eye right above it. I do that sort of thing in my sketchbooks.
